CEREC: Changing tooth restorations forever, for the better

Dr. Dooley was one of the first dentists in Georgia to master the CEREC digital technology to restore teeth. He began in 2003 with the CEREC 3 system and has since upgraded to the latest hardware, software and materials used to restore teeth that are decayed, fractured or discolored.

CEREC stands for "chairside economical restoration of esthetic ceramic." It's a computer-aided design / computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) system that allows dentists to design, make, and place dental restorations in just one appointment instead of two or more visits.

Many people are dissatisfied with the darkness and color that comes with silver "amalgam" restorations. Patients want tooth-colored fillings as a replacement for dark and discolored teeth. Besides discoloring, the amalgam, over time, corrodes and expands in the tooth, resulting in cracked teeth. Most of the time, porcelain restorations can replace old silver fillings and leaking "composite" plastic, tooth-colored fillings.

Since 2003, Dr. Dooley has placed over 6,500 Leucite-reinforced porcelain CEREC restorations.
